Team Jimmy on The FrontLine Trace
Dear Family and Friends,
This year is the second year my team and I have entered in this great tournament, and we have decided that our Captain's Challenge goal will be set at $10,000. We look forward to the challenge of breaking our goal this year, when we raised $5,000 in just two weeks last year. As some of you may know, my dad Jimmy Silvers passed away in 2007 from nasal pharyngeal cancer, a rare type of cancer in the nose and soft pallet in his mouth. This disease killed him in under 10 months from the date he was diagnosed. While my dad was receiving treatments, he was in and out of the hospital at either Johns Hopkins in Baltimore, or Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis. Both hospitals were extremely hospitable, and professional helping my dad and my family cope with horrible disease.
When I found out about this tournament last year, I had to enter, and I felt that it was my obligation to give back to the Oncology Center at Anne Arundel Medical Center because of the care and treatment they had given my dad. Not only did the oncology unit house my dad for several months during his battle, the Cardiac Center also saved my grandfather's life in December 2016 when he was rushed to the hospital with an Aortic Aneurism which he had less than a 10% chance of making it out of surgery. At the ripe old age of 87, he is still with us today!!!
Although my dad isn't here with us anymore, his legacy lives on, and there are many stories of him that will bring a smile to your face if not laugh out loud. This year my team and I are doing something different. IF YOU DONATE OVER $100 TO THE CAPTAINS CHALLENGE IN MY BOAT'S NAME, DEDICATE IT TO SOMEONE AND WE WILL PUT HIS/HER NAME ON OUR TEAM'S SHIRT!! Thank you all for the support, and let's get this $10,000!!!
All proceeds go directly towards the Anne Arundle Center Oncology Unit!!
