Team Jimmy on The FrontLine Trace
Welcome all! This is the third year we have participated in in the annual Fish For A Cure tournament. This tournament isn’t just any other charity to me; it’s an amazing fishing tournament that takes place on the Chesapeake Bay, on Saturday, November 2nd, where all proceeds raised go directly to the Anne Arundel Medical Center’s Geaton and JoAnn DeCesaris Cancer Institute right here in Annapolis, MD. As most of you know, my father, Jimmy Silvers was diagnosed with a rare type of NasalPharengeal Cancer in Septemebr of 2007. After a 10-month battle with this disease, my dad's fight came to an end. During his 10-month battle, he was in and out of the multiple hospitals, one of which was the Cancer Institute at Anne Arundel Medical Center, so you can see why this means so much to me.
The last two years, we’ve fished in honor of my dad. But this year, we’ll be honoring one more person; my cousin, Jacob O'Connor, was diagnosed with a sarcoma tumor in his leg in January of this year. Jake is the son of my teammate, David O'connor, who has been fishing alongside of me ever since we first entered into this tournament. Jake is in remission now, and continues to get better every day. We’re so grateful for his recovery, but our fight against this terrible disease isn’t over. We must fight for those who continue to battle this disease each and every day. That’s why why do this.
Year one, we raised just over $5,000. Year two, we raised just over $8,000. This year we are striving to raise over $10,000, and we can only do that with your help!! There are only have a few days left. Thank you for visiting our site, and help us breach the goal! Together, we can beat this terrible disease!!
