Doc B's Fishing Team
We are back for our 9th year participating in Fish For A Cure. As many of you know, this cause hit closer to home last year than we ever could imagine. In July 2018, Todd was diagnosed with Colon Cancer. Until you have heard the words "you have cancer" with your own ears about yourself or someone you love, you really have no idea how it feels. Our world was turned upside down and taking care of Todd’s cancer became the only thing we did for several months. Fortunately, we were able to get the best care right in our own community at the Geaton and Joanne DeCesaris Cancer Institute at Anne Arundel Medical Center. Through our involvement with Fish For A Cure, we were already familiar with the Survivorship Program and the services it provided. As a physician, I am more knowledgeable regarding cancer care but I still relied heavily on Todd’s nurse navigator, Judy. With her help, we avoided ER visits and she was available whenever we needed her advice. Having that access whenever we needed it not only avoided complications for Todd from the chemotherapy but also gave us less to be stressed about. This is something we will forever be grateful for.
Fish For A Cure directly supports the Survivorship Program and the services it provides to the cancer patients at AAMC DeCesaris Cancer Institute. This program is without a doubt one of the most important things a cancer center can offer its’ patients. In 2018, Fish For A Cure raised over $550,000 that directly supported this program. We hope you will support this great and important cause by donating to our boat. All donations are tax deductible and go to support the Survivorship Program. We personally raised over $8,000 in 2018 but would love to reach $10,000 this year!! With your help, that is possible.
