Fourteen years ago, I had an idea to start a small fishing tournament here in my hometown of Annapolis, MD. Little did I know that this small fishing tournament would turn into such a powerful tool for Anne Arundel Medical Center’s, Geaton and JoAnn DeCesaris Cancer Institute. To date, Fish For A Cure has raised more than $3.4 million dollars!!! These dollars go directly to the cancer survivorship programs within AAMC and have a major impact on the care provided at this facility which serves thousands of patients every year.
Imagine, with all that is happening in 2020, that you or a loved one or friend, in addition to everything else COVID related, receives news of a new cancer diagnosis or continues to battle through an existing diagnosis. It’s sadly all too easy to imagine, which is why I am asking that despite the negativity associated with 2020, you consider a small gift to this event. It is the efforts of the Boat Teams and the generosity of our supporters that allow us to generate such wonderful donations each year to AAMC.
Trust me when I tell you that what we do here has a very powerful and positive impact with the people being treated at this facility and their families. One step at a time, one dollar at a time.
